Meet Donna

Hi there…. My name is Donna, and I am a 40 “something” year old from Hardwick.  I have been teaching yoga for about 5 years. I was 200-hour Real Yoga Trained through the Yoga Alliance in Hatha style yoga at Frog Pond Yoga Studio in Princeton Ma. Hatha Yoga incorporates breath with movement; however, we covered all types of yoga throughout my training, and I like to incorporate a little bit of everything in my classes.

I spent many years as an avid runner and doing cardio type workouts.  I went to yoga throughout the years, however as a runner I was never great about stretching (most runners aren’t…. lol).  I needed yoga but didn’t realize how much I REALLY needed yoga.  I am a go go go and go some more type of person, very rarely stopping to just breathe and relax.  Yoga has helped me tremendously with that and I have learned just how important it is to bring this calm to your body.

Most of us tax our immune systems because we live in a constant state of fight or flight due to our daily stresses.  This physiological and psychological state is from our ancient ancestors when they were faced with danger in their environment, and it prepares the body to react to danger. It is not healthy to live in this state; it can cause many health issues in the body.  Yoga helps a great deal with this.

For a long time, I struggled to find a studio that I felt comfortable in, or a teacher that I could really relate to.  I did finally start to find those teachers and studios through much exploration.  Every teacher offers something a little different, and I really enjoy going to many different classes and seeing how unique teachers can be.  I encourage you to try a class and to keep looking for the classes that make you feel comfortable, relaxed and calmer when you leave.

“Yoga is not a work-out it is a work-in, and this is the point of spiritual practice to make us teachable to open up our hearts and focus our awareness so that we can know what we already know and be who we already are.”
